East River Dental accepts patients using the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) at our Newmarket office. Eligibility and coverage are determined by the Government of Canada, and out-of-pocket costs can vary based on adjusted family net income, CDCP-established fees and the services received.

What is the CDCP?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program providing dental coverage to eligible Canadians who don't have access to private dental insurance.
The plan is now open to eligible applicants of all ages. Eligibility, the services covered and the fees the plan pays are set by the Government of Canada and are reviewed for each benefit period, so check the current details before you book.
East River Dental accepts CDCP patients at our Newmarket office and bills the plan directly for covered services. What you pay out of pocket depends on your adjusted family net income, the CDCP-established fee for the service, and our fee for it.
The CDCP may not cover the full amount charged by a provider, and not every service is covered. Confirm coverage before treatment.

Coverage and co-payments
What the CDCP pays depends on your adjusted family net income. The percentages below apply to the CDCP-established fee for a service — not to the full amount a provider charges.
Adjusted family net income Under $70,000
- CDCP pays 100% of eligible service costs at CDCP-established fees
- No co-payment
- Additional charges can still apply.
Adjusted family net income $70,000 – $79,999
- CDCP share 60%
- Patient co-payment 40% of the CDCP-established fee
- Additional charges can still apply.
Adjusted family net income $80,000 – $89,999
- CDCP share 40%
- Patient co-payment 60% of the CDCP-established fee
- Additional charges can still apply.

Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for the CDCP?
You apply through the Government of Canada's My Service Canada Account or by calling Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342. Applications are assessed by the Government of Canada, not by our office. Once you are approved you will receive a welcome package confirming your coverage start date.
Will my treatment be free?
Not necessarily. Depending on your adjusted family net income the CDCP pays 100%, 60% or 40% of the CDCP-established fee, and a co-payment may apply. The CDCP-established fee can also be lower than a provider's fee, and not every service is covered — so additional charges can still apply. We will give you an estimate before treatment starts.
Is the CDCP available for children?
Yes. The plan is open to eligible residents of all ages, including children, provided the household meets the eligibility criteria.
What if I already have insurance?
Having access to private dental insurance generally makes you ineligible, even if you choose not to use it. Coverage through a government social program may be treated differently — check the Government of Canada's eligibility page for your situation.
How do I know what's covered?
Your CDCP member documents set out your coverage, and the Government of Canada publishes the list of eligible services. Ask us before treatment and we will confirm what the plan covers for your specific case and what you can expect to pay.
